Course Overview
This is a Live Webinar event that will be held on April 28, 2024 - 1pm PDT, 4pm EDT.

This is the seventh course in a series called Integrative Nutrition and will cover biomedical and integrative science of nutrition and explore the complementary and alternative concepts that are part of the modern supplement industry. This series will be one live class per month covering a category of nutrition and will include some basic biochemistry, nutrition, and supplements available on the market. In other words, it is going to be the perfect combination of biochemical nutrition, supplements, Chinese medicine, and real-world use cases, If you are a practitioner of any stripe or just interested in nutrition, this is the series for you.

This class will cover some of the basic building blocks of nutrition. We will examine the biochemistry, physiology, and the role of vitamins in health and disease. After exploring this, we will look at supplements on the market, what they theoretically do and what the science says about their effectiveness. There will be a lot of information and it will be immediately useful for treating our patients.

Objective
  • Comprehend vitamins and overall nutrition from a biomedical perspective.
  • Explore how the most common supplements involving vitamins and how they theoretically act on the body.
  • Develop potentially effective treatment strategies involving supplements helping vitamin deficiencies.

    About Greg Sperber

    Dr. Greg Sperber is currently a practitioner of Chinese medicine and host of Sperb’s Herbs Podcasts. Previously, he has been Vice Provost at Bastyr University California, Dean of the College of Eastern Medicine at Southern California University of Health Sciences, clinical chair and director of clinical services at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego (PCOM), and a clinical supervisor and professor at several colleges and universities. He is co-author of Integrative Pharmacology, Combining Modern Pharmacology with Integrative Medicine and Playing the Game, A Step-by-Step Approach to Accepting Insurance as an Acupuncturist. Dr. Sperber received a masters and doctor of acupuncture and Oriental medicine from PCOM, San Diego, a medical degree from Flinders University of South Australia, and a master of business administration from National University. He has been a past president of the California State Oriental Medical Association and has spoken at many conferences about Chinese medicine, business, drug-herb interactions, pharmacology, and ethics and professionalism.
