Course Overview
We are all connected. In the case of fire, not only are we connected and balanced by Wood, the "mother" of fire, (think wood feeding the fire in a campfire in the woods) but the fire element has not just two, but four meridians associated with the bright light we call Fire. Fire is love and warmth in its' balanced state. Imbalanced it can manifest as inflammation, as in inflamed joints, dry skin, sexual coldness, hemorrhoids , hot flashes, heartburn, poor circulation, and digestive problems. The four meridians associated with the fire element are: 1) the Heart (HT) yin 2) the small intestines, (SI) Yang, 3) Pericardium (PC) yin and 4) Triple Heater TH (yang). The Triple Heater also known as the Triple Warmer, SanJiao is the only meridian that is not associated with an organ. It has other associations and is connected to our core, or "three burners" and immune system. Other associations we think of with fire are: the color red, the season summer, direction, south, flavor bitter, the orifices of the ears and the tongue. The emotions are joy and happiness. Fire is probably the easiest element to access. When a person or animal's fire is out of balance they may have a heavy heart and be sad, or out of control, have ear and hearing problems like deafness and tinnitus, or have ear aches. Their tongue may be very red.
Objective
  • In this segment students will learn about the trajectories of the Heart, Small Intestines, Pericardium and Triple Heater trajectories, both on the human and dog body, and be able to trace their pathways and identify some important acupoints.
  • By moving the body and joints students will be able to build their fire to facilitate movement; both in themselves and their dog friends. Videos help students add Qi building movements and exercises, breath work and visualization to their practices.
  • The classic texts suggest that the Fire phase is warmth and light, full of vitality, lively, colorful and active. Students will learn to recognize a balanced and imbalanced Fire person or dog; by taking a look at the qualities associated with Fire.
  • Ashley Monteque, was an anthropologist and author of the book: "Touching". The Chinese have used acupressure massage to balance the body for thousands of years. Learn how to use acupressure & embodied touch to help balance the body, mind & spirit.
  • Students will explore the Ren and Du Mai vessels as well as the Dai Mai and Chong Mai channels, both on their bodies and a dogs. They should be able to explain how the extra channels influence human and animal energy.

    Gilbert

    About Gina Gilbert

I grew up with a passion for learning, teaching and traveling. My mother, born and raised in Brazil, could speak seven languages. She was my inspiration for studying foreign languages. My goal was to become an interpreter in the United Nations. As it turns out, I became an enterpreter of body language, mapping and interpreting energy fields, and conduit for supporting the bodies innate ability to heal itself. I did my undergraduate studies at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. One day, sitting behind a student taking notes with his feet, I was transfixed. He was a paraplegic, sans arms: and my second inspiration. I learned to draw with my hands, feet and whole body creating mandalas on the floor. In the 80's, I visited China, Japan and Hong Kong, studying Shiatsu and Hara Diagnosis in Japan. The Japanese call the "Hara", or gut, the second brain- I actually believe that through gut reactions we receive our deepest information; and why I love animals. They are totally gut driven, intuitive beings. In 1993, before the thousand year old tradition of Acupuncture was popular in the United States, I graduated from a three year post- graduate training in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at Tri-State College of Acupuncture. I had studied the body with pioneers in the field like Moshe Feldenkrais, (Awareness Through Movement), Milton Trager. (Psychophysical Education), Jon Zahourek (Anatomy in Clay) and Frank Bender, a forensic artist . The lessons learned from this amazing young man and his dog were life changing. While, in California, I spent much time by the sea. Exposure to the environment and elements, deepened, not only my appreciation for nature, but my understanding of the Five Element paradigm used for diagnosis in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. This two thousand year old system examines the relationship between nature, humans, animals, and the five elements: Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood. Acudog Wellness goes "hand-and-paw" with the elements. I currently teach "Shiatsu"and "Tui-Na," non-invasive branches of Chinese Medicine In December of 2019, I came back East for a visit and Covid hit. I remained on the East coast, and In 2020, decided to get licensed in Maryland to practice acupuncture. I had practiced acupuncture and bodywork in Pennsylvania for over 30 years.

    *CEU/CPD Approvals

Some accreditation bodies have course approval expirations. If the approval expires, you will see a notice next to the name with a date of expiration: "[Until YYYY/MM/DD]". Please factor this date into your own renewal deadline. If an approval expires, you will be able to request that it is renewed and we will submit it for you within 2 business days. Renewals normally come back to us after 30 days. If your accreditation body is not listed under the "Approved" section, you may find it under the "Pending" section. That means that it is either currently pending approval, or that it is available for you to request: "[Upon Request]". New course approvals usually come back to us after 45 days. We use an automated system within our platform that allows you to make these requests in an easy and convenient way. Just visit the course page in your Net of Knowledge account and click the "Request Approval" button at the top. Each "Course and CEUs/CPDs" purchase grants you 1 request per accreditation body. If you request a course approval and do not complete it before its new expiration date, you will need to purchase another "CEU/CPD Add-On" to make another request. If the course is ineligible for approval with an accreditation body due to their subject-matter policies, it will be listed as "[Ineligible]", and no requests will be possible for the course.
