Lhasa OMS Tariff FAQ

Lhasa OMS is actively advocating, in collaboration with industry suppliers, partners, colleges, educators, and associations, to ensure that acupuncture needles, herbs, and other essential wellness products remain both accessible and affordable. We are doing everything within our power to protect these vital supplies from the impact of tariffs.

What are tariffs and why are they impacting my wellness supplies that are manufactured in other countries?

Tariffs are extra taxes that a government charges on products imported from other countries. Many wellness products (like acupuncture needles and herbs) are manufactured overseas. When the U.S. assesses tariffs on these imports, it is actually the companies importing that pay the tariff fees— and, unfortunately, those additional costs usually get passed down to the customer.

If you see tariff surcharges applied at cart and checkout, it’s because the companies are now paying new tariff fees to get the same products into the U.S.

How long will the tariff surcharge last?

This is an uncertain time and beyond our control. It is dependent upon negotiations between the United States and many nations who export to us.

For your wellness supplies, unless there's a major trade deal or a policy change, you should expect tariff-inflated prices to stay for the foreseeable future depending on the country of origin. As soon as we can lower the surcharge or eliminate it, we will make those changes quickly and accordingly.

What is the latest news on tariff policies?

Tariff changes are happening in real-time. While some countries have received temporary tariff pauses, this is all subject to change.

How will this tariff surcharge be represented during my purchase?

In your cart, you will see a column labeled “Tariff Surcharge”. This shows the additional fees based on the product’s country of origin. In an effort to remain as transparent as possible, we are showing the tariff amount as a separate line item. These tariff fees may be changed or removed as tariff costs continue to remediate.

  • If a “Tariff Surcharge” appears, it reflects the extra fee due to import tariffs.
  • If there is no surcharge, it means either the importer has already absorbed the cost into the price of the product, or the product was made domestically

The tariff surcharge total will also be itemized alongside tax, shipping, and your overall order total. You’ll see this clearly at checkout as well. You will also see this reflected in your order confirmation email.
