Introduction (who is Dr Natalie, why I created this course).
15 min - 1 hrsModule 1: overview of eastern philosophy (history, background, origins, review of elements, cosmology, astrology, feng shui) We will cover foundational TCM principles, such as the Five Elements theory and Yin-Yang duality, which are crucial for understanding energy dynamics in acupuncture. The module will also touch on cosmology and astrology as they relate to Chinese medicine.
1 hrs - 2 hrsModule 2: Birth Star (core identity, ego, character) We will discuss how the Birth Star influences one's constitution in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and can indicate potential areas of strength or imbalance. We will explore how this aspect of one's energy impacts the flow of Qi, the vital life force, and how acupuncture can be used to support a balanced expression of one's core nature.
2 hrs - 3 hrsModule 3: Inner Star (emotions, instincts, nurturing) We will discuss the role of the Inner Star in shaping emotional health, as understood in TCM, including its impact on the organs associated with particular emotions (e.g., Liver with anger, Heart with joy). Practical applications, such as how specific acupuncture points and herbal remedies can support emotional balance and nurturing capacities, will also be covered.
3 hrs - 4 hrsModule 4: Outer Star (self-image, destiny, approach to life) We will discuss the concept of destiny in Eastern philosophy, and how this aligns with the TCM perspective on the flow of Qi and meridian pathways. The module will also cover techniques in acupuncture that support life direction and self-image, addressing common energetic blockages that can manifest as life challenges.
4 hrs - 5 hrsModule 5: Personal Yearly Predictions (topics, themes, universal influences, life lessons) We will discuss how different elemental influences and cycles can impact one’s health and energy flow from an acupuncture perspective. The importance of harmonizing with these cycles through seasonal acupuncture treatments, dietary adjustments, and lifestyle changes will be emphasized to maintain balance throughout the year.
5 hrs - 6.5 hrsModule 6: Interpersonal Relationships (how we communicate, connect, and interact with others) will discuss how different elemental types communicate and interact with one another, including the role of the Five Elements in relationship compatibility. Participants will learn how TCM healing modalities can be used to enhance communication, resolve energetic conflicts, and improve connection in relationships.
6.5 hrs - 8 hrsModule 7: Integration (putting it all together & Questions) This session will include case studies, examples of treatment plans using acupuncture and Oriental medicine, and Q&A for personalized insights. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of how to apply Eastern philosophy to foster greater health, balance, and self-awareness.
About Natalie Vail
Dr. Natalie Vail LAc, Dipl OM, DACM has devoted her entire life to the healing arts. She is a double-board certified licensed acupuncturist in the state of California and also nationally by NCCAOM. She earned her master's degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Health Sciences in 2011, followed by her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in 2016. Furthermore, she graduated with highest honors from the University of California, Berkeley, where she also earned membership in the Phi Beta Kappa Society. Beyond her extensive training in acupuncture and Chinese medicine, Dr. Vail has traveled the world in search of personal growth and spiritual development. She is also an ordained Spiritualist minister, Feng Shui consultant, herbalist, certified psychic-medium, Reiki Master, and initiated Shamanic-Priestess. With over 30 years of experience in Energy Medicine, she brings a holistic approach to healing. Dr. Vail operates a trauma-informed private practice in San Diego, California, where she specializes in acupuncture and other modalities to address physical, emotional, and spiritual imbalances. She is dedicated to providing compassionate care and creating sacred space for individuals to heal their pain and find inner peace. In addition to her local practice, Dr. Vail offers remote sessions to clients worldwide, allowing her to extend her healing reach beyond geographical boundaries. Her mission as a Healer is to share ancient wisdom and empower individuals to embark on their healing journey with courage and compassion.
Some accreditation bodies have course approval expirations. If the approval expires, you will see a notice next to the name with a date of expiration: "[Until YYYY/MM/DD]". Please factor this date into your own renewal deadline. If an approval expires, you will be able to request that it is renewed and we will submit it for you within 2 business days. Renewals normally come back to us after 30 days. If your accreditation body is not listed under the "Approved" section, you may find it under the "Pending" section. That means that it is either currently pending approval, or that it is available for you to request: "[Upon Request]". New course approvals usually come back to us after 45 days. We use an automated system within our platform that allows you to make these requests in an easy and convenient way. Just visit the course page in your Net of Knowledge account and click the "Request Approval" button at the top. Each "Course and CEUs/CPDs" purchase grants you 1 request per accreditation body. If you request a course approval and do not complete it before its new expiration date, you will need to purchase another "CEU/CPD Add-On" to make another request. If the course is ineligible for approval with an accreditation body due to their subject-matter policies, it will be listed as "[Ineligible]", and no requests will be possible for the course.
