Course Overview
Energy Medicine explores many strategies for healing ourselves, including acupressure with the hands, feet or whole body, needles, tuning forks, off the body protocols like Reiki or Therapeutic Touch. In the Five Element Paradigm on the Five Element Chart, Earth is the "mother " of Metal, and Fire, controls Metal. A balanced Metal element represents qualities like precision, discipline and refinement. Self reliant and resilient Metal individuals prefer to handle their problems alone and are excellent problem solvers capable of decisive action. They are also intelligent, business oriented and good at organization and stability. Their intellectual sharpness and self disciple can enable them to achieve great success.

Metal people can also appreciate and enjoy luxury, like diamonds, have great inner strength; like the historical alchemists who changed lead into gold, eg: Albert Einstein.

And let's not forget smell and the nose, the sensory organ of metal and dog's strongest sense! Dogs can detect human emotions like fear, stress and happiness by smelling changes in hormone levels in their breath and sweat with their noses.

To bring to balance: Do deep breathing, eat foods that moisten the lungs, like pears and honey, be outside with nature, incorporate activities that allow you to feel creative and take your mind away from being restrictive. Cupping helps to boost the immune system and keep lungs functioning properly. Acupressure helps joints and flexibility.
Objective
  • Metal represents the minerals that feed the soil and hence the food that gives us nourishment. It provides fuel for heat, structural strength, and is essential for communication and networks. Be able to describe ways to nourish this element.
  • Explore the trajectories of the Lungs and Large Intestines. Students should be able to trace the pathways of these two meridians in the human and dog bodies and how they intersect.
  • Earth, is the "mother" of Metal in the K'o cycle, hence we can address certain points along the Earth channels help to balance the Lungs and Large Intestines, like the Metal point of the Stomach Yang meridian : ST45 on the side of the second toe.
  • Chinese medicine reflects the relationship of the elements in nature or the “macrocosm,” and the human or animal body, or “microcosm”. How will an understanding of this relationship help your practice?
  • Outline
    0 hrs - 30 min

Metal has been described as the salt of the earth. It provides nourishment for the soil to grow food. How is this relevant?

    30 min - 1 hrs

The Metal Element and lungs and large intestines, breathing, smell and letting go are the focus for human and canine health.

    1 hrs - 1.5 hrs

Balanced and imbalanced emotions are associated with Metal element. Case studies illustrate these emotions.

    1.5 hrs - 1.75 hrs

The qualities of the elements like body parts and sense organs, are introduced, with breathwork, smell and the nose.

    1.75 hrs - 2 hrs

The Metal element is linked to the intellect, particularly in terms of clarity, focus, and the ability to think clearly and communicate effectively. It also relates to the capacity to make sound decisions and act with precision.

    Gilbert

    About Gina Gilbert

I grew up with a passion for learning, teaching and traveling. My mother, born and raised in Brazil, could speak seven languages. She was my inspiration for studying foreign languages. My goal was to become an interpreter in the United Nations. As it turns out, I became an enterpreter of body language, mapping and interpreting energy fields, and conduit for supporting the bodies innate ability to heal itself. I did my undergraduate studies at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. One day, sitting behind a student taking notes with his feet, I was transfixed. He was a paraplegic, sans arms: and my second inspiration. I learned to draw with my hands, feet and whole body creating mandalas on the floor. In the 80's, I visited China, Japan and Hong Kong, studying Shiatsu and Hara Diagnosis in Japan. The Japanese call the "Hara", or gut, the second brain- I actually believe that through gut reactions we receive our deepest information; and why I love animals. They are totally gut driven, intuitive beings. In 1993, before the thousand year old tradition of Acupuncture was popular in the United States, I graduated from a three year post- graduate training in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at Tri-State College of Acupuncture. I had studied the body with pioneers in the field like Moshe Feldenkrais, (Awareness Through Movement), Milton Trager. (Psychophysical Education), Jon Zahourek (Anatomy in Clay) and Frank Bender, a forensic artist . The lessons learned from this amazing young man and his dog were life changing. While, in California, I spent much time by the sea. Exposure to the environment and elements, deepened, not only my appreciation for nature, but my understanding of the Five Element paradigm used for diagnosis in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. This two thousand year old system examines the relationship between nature, humans, animals, and the five elements: Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood. Acudog Wellness goes "hand-and-paw" with the elements. I currently teach "Shiatsu"and "Tui-Na," non-invasive branches of Chinese Medicine In December of 2019, I came back East for a visit and Covid hit. I remained on the East coast, and In 2020, decided to get licensed in Maryland to practice acupuncture. I had practiced acupuncture and bodywork in Pennsylvania for over 30 years.

    *CEU/CPD Approvals

Some accreditation bodies have course approval expirations. If the approval expires, you will see a notice next to the name with a date of expiration: "[Until YYYY/MM/DD]". Please factor this date into your own renewal deadline. If an approval expires, you will be able to request that it is renewed and we will submit it for you within 2 business days. Renewals normally come back to us after 30 days. If your accreditation body is not listed under the "Approved" section, you may find it under the "Pending" section. That means that it is either currently pending approval, or that it is available for you to request: "[Upon Request]". New course approvals usually come back to us after 45 days. We use an automated system within our platform that allows you to make these requests in an easy and convenient way. Just visit the course page in your Net of Knowledge account and click the "Request Approval" button at the top. Each "Course and CEUs/CPDs" purchase grants you 1 request per accreditation body. If you request a course approval and do not complete it before its new expiration date, you will need to purchase another "CEU/CPD Add-On" to make another request. If the course is ineligible for approval with an accreditation body due to their subject-matter policies, it will be listed as "[Ineligible]", and no requests will be possible for the course.
