Classical Pearls Serpent Pearls is an adaptation of the traditional remedy Wumei Wan, which is one of the key jueyin remedies found in the 2nd-century text, Treatise on Disorders Caused by Cold (Shanghan Lun). Jueyin syndrome represents the final and most complex of the six conformations described in this classic, typically characterized by persistent, complex disorders that involve multiple organs and exhibit intertwined symptoms of heat and cold. As such, Wumei Wan encompasses all five flavors of the herbal spectrum, combining both extremely hot and pungent herbs with very cold and bitter ones. While the jueyin approach can address a variety of chronic diseases, this formula has historically been used primarily for treating parasites.
