Course Overview
Gua sha is a simple modality that resolves stubborn pain and old injuries, and helps heal tissues by reorganizing the fascial matrix. Gua Sha is one of the most popular and effective treatments I offer and I'm eager to share the benefits of this underutilized modality.
We will cover the wide application possibilities of Gua Sha and specific treatment strategies for common conditions. We will look at Gua Sha from the Western and Eastern perspectives, and understand indications and contraindications for this modality.

Learn about the fascinating history of Gua Sha as well as its modern usage in the form of Graston and IASTM, and gain practical skills to use with immediate results in your clinic.
Objective
  • Gain an understanding of the history and evolution of gua sha.
  • Be able to discern indications, contraindications, and cautions for gua sha treatment.
  • Understand the action of gua sha on the tissues, particularly connective tissues including the fascial matrix and the blood/“xue” level.
  • Understand gua sha dosage and how to apply for different patient presentations.
  • Working knowledge of the most common types of gua sha tools and how they can be used.

    What People Are Saying

Carly's instructional and demo videos for her Gua Sha course are detailed and answered the many questions I had about gua sha after not practicing it for many years (have been working in a hospital where gua sha was not permitted). Now I feel equipped to competently provide my patients in private practice with gua sha to accompany their acupuncture treatments. Thank you Carly!

While I learned gua sha in school, I never actually used it or had the desire since graduating. However, I was curious what a whole course on gua sha would offer and now I'm excited to have this ancient tool in my back pocket. I love the calm teaching from Carly and so clearly going through the material. Also the demo was very helpful for me to see and what to look for (such as the blooming of the sha). I've already tried this out at work and have had positive results. Am happy I took this.

    *CEU/CPD Approvals

Some accreditation bodies have course approval expirations. If the approval expires, you will see a notice next to the name with a date of expiration: "[Until YYYY/MM/DD]". Please factor this date into your own renewal deadline. If an approval expires, you will be able to request that it is renewed and we will submit it for you within 2 business days. Renewals normally come back to us after 30 days. If your accreditation body is not listed under the "Approved" section, you may find it under the "Pending" section. That means that it is either currently pending approval, or that it is available for you to request: "[Upon Request]". New course approvals usually come back to us after 45 days. We use an automated system within our platform that allows you to make these requests in an easy and convenient way. Just visit the course page in your Net of Knowledge account and click the "Request Approval" button at the top. Each "Course and CEUs/CPDs" purchase grants you 1 request per accreditation body. If you request a course approval and do not complete it before its new expiration date, you will need to purchase another "CEU/CPD Add-On" to make another request. If the course is ineligible for approval with an accreditation body due to their subject-matter policies, it will be listed as "[Ineligible]", and no requests will be possible for the course.
