When Tomas Nani, EarthLite’s founder, began his studies at Florida School of Massage in the mid-1970s, he made a massage table for a classmate. During the ensuing years he traveled extensively working as a therapist. He had no time to make tables, but he learned what qualities a good portable massage table should have.
Tomas finally established a massage therapy practice in San Diego, and started making tables for friends and referrals whenever he had the chance. Over time referrals increased as massage therapy became increasingly popular. In 1987 Massage Table Store, the first California massage equipment retailer, began buying Tomas’ tables and EarthLite was born.
From its inception EarthLite was committed to using renewable materials and environment-friendly glues and lacquers, a commitment that has only deepened over time. In 1991 Jon Roleder, an expert in furniture manufacturing, joined the company, and demand for EarthLite tables rose dramatically. By 1997 the company had almost 200 employees, many of whom are still there today. And its growth has not let up. EarthLite now has operations on three continents and has launched a global environmental sourcing initiative, ensuring that all of its tables are produced with the same environmental integrity.
In the face of this incredible growth and change, Tomas’ top priority has become the preservation of EarthLite’s core values and brand identity. Its skilled craftsmen have been perfecting the production of long-lasting professional massage tables for three decades by always incorporating useful new technologies into its time-tested table designs. Its integrity, its use of the highest quality materials and the detailed design and careful construction of EarthLite products justifies its calling itself the world’s #1 brand in massage.
