This formula was first published in “Secret Collection of the Orchid House” by the Yuan dynasty physician Li Dongyuang. Dang Gui Nian Tong Tang is used to treat damp-heat syndrome associated with a heavy sensation in the upper back and shoulders, by purging heat, dispelling dampness, and tonifying the qi and blood.
