Course Overview
Deepen your knowledge of the Chinese metaphysical concept of the Five Elements / Five Phases - Wu Xíng (??), and understand how it applies to personalities, preferences and health in Ba Zì (??) Chinese Astrology. Do you know the differences between the Yang Wood and Yin Wood personality types and how excessive or deficient states affect the manifestations of the constitutional self? Do you understand how one's personality and useful elements react and adapt when there are specific elements interacting with the constitutional self? Learn each of the singular 10 constitutional selves more in-depth. Learn more about the layers and context of how the presence and interactions of the other Wu Xing affects and differentiates how one's constitutional energetic self presents both internally and externally to the world. Understand how these elements can be used as a tool to understand yourself, your relationships, and your life, including health and lifestyle choices. PRE-REQUISITES: A) Basic and comfortable knowledge of Wu Xíng (??) Five Element / Phase, and Yin / Yang theory. B) Introduction to Chinese Astrology: An introduction to the basic components of Ba Zì (??) Chinese Astrology and Feng Shui ?? (??).

    About Sonia Tan

    Dr. Sonia F. Tan, BA, BA(H), DTCM Dip, DAOM, RAc, RTCMP, has been helping guide people on their pathway to health in the TCM world since 2006. She is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM degree), a Registered Acupuncturist, and a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Practitioner. Dr. Sonia Tan obtained her clinical research Doctorate degree from Yo San University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Los Angeles, California. She is also a graduate of the five year Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine program from the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Vancouver. Dr. Sonia F. Tan is one of few certified Gold Level practitioners of the late Dr. Richard Tan. His most advanced level courses after all Balance Method levels, were first completed by a group of 16 senior students. Sonia was among those 16. With the blessings of fellow senior students to pass on the Balance Method legacy, Dr. Sonia Tan developed and created the very first Balance Method/System Acupuncture Certificate program at an accredited public post-secondary institution–Langara College –launched in 2018. In 2010, Sonia was honoured to be named and be a part of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Medical Teams. Dr. Sonia Tan has been teaching and keynote speaking since 2013. Sonia began her career in health with a Bachelor’s degree in Honors Kinesiology, with a specialization in Athletic Injuries, from the University of Western Ontario. Sonia has also completed many adjunct and advanced therapy courses, such as Sound Healing, TCM Clinical Aromatherapy and Essential Oils, and Drs. Jeffrey Yuen and Yvonne Farrell’s Eight Extraordinary Vessels approach, that she continually uses in her practice. She is a direct and senior student of the late Dr. Richard Tehfu Tan. In addition, following in her grandfather’s footsteps and the classical umbrella of Chinese Medicine, Dr. Sonia F. Tan has completed apprenticeships in Chinese Metaphysics in the areas of Chinese Astrology, Face Reading, and Classical Feng Shui. She completed these certifications under various teachers in 2011. She is a direct and first graduating class disciple of the late Grandmaster Dr. Richard Teh-Fu Tan and certified in Ba Zi Chinese Astrology. She has also trained with, and is a certified Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology practitioner since 2011 under Master Marlyna Los. As a student of a variety of martial arts since 1995, Dr. Sonia F. Tan is grateful to her Shifu the late Dale Johns, for her foundation, and to Shifu Matthew Dyck for continuing to guide her along this path. Following in the footsteps of her grandfather, Sonia is immersed in all aspects of Chinese Metaphysics, and thoroughly enjoys educating and inspiring others!
