Course Overview
Please Note: This is an Audio Course.

In this 2-part course, Bob Flaws presents two digestive disorders commonly seen in the modern clinic: GERD (Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disorder) and IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). Both GERD and IBS are pathologies that typically respond well to Chinese medicine.

Part 1 of this course asks ""What is GERD and who does it affect?"" This class teaches participants basic western medical diagnosis and treatment; Chinese medical disease categorization and mechanisms, including causes; treatment based on pattern discrimination; and effective acupuncture, medicinals, and formulas for the treatment of GERD.

In Part 2 of this course, participants are introduced to IBS, or allergic or mucus colitis. The good news is that there's only one pattern seen in most IBS cases. If clinicians understand this pattern, then the condition is relatively simple to treat. In this class, Bob presents this pattern and its most common complications, and how to treat it using acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and diet and lifestyle modification. While not a silver bullet, participants are presented with a specific formula that has proven to be extremely effective in treating IBS.
Objective
  • To learn about gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in general
  • To specifically learn and understand the Chinese medical disease causes and mechanisms of both diseases
  • To learn to treat GERD and IBS via acupuncture and Chinese medicinal treatment with pattern discrimination
  • To learn about the most common, multi-pattern, clinical presentation of GERD and IBS, with Chinese medicinal formulas for treatment

    *CEU/CPD Approvals

Some accreditation bodies have course approval expirations. If the approval expires, you will see a notice next to the name with a date of expiration: "[Until YYYY/MM/DD]". Please factor this date into your own renewal deadline. If an approval expires, you will be able to request that it is renewed and we will submit it for you within 2 business days. Renewals normally come back to us after 30 days. If your accreditation body is not listed under the "Approved" section, you may find it under the "Pending" section. That means that it is either currently pending approval, or that it is available for you to request: "[Upon Request]". New course approvals usually come back to us after 45 days. We use an automated system within our platform that allows you to make these requests in an easy and convenient way. Just visit the course page in your Net of Knowledge account and click the "Request Approval" button at the top. Each "Course and CEUs/CPDs" purchase grants you 1 request per accreditation body. If you request a course approval and do not complete it before its new expiration date, you will need to purchase another "CEU/CPD Add-On" to make another request. If the course is ineligible for approval with an accreditation body due to their subject-matter policies, it will be listed as "[Ineligible]", and no requests will be possible for the course.
