Net of Knowledge is an exciting, new continuing education platform built specifically for TCM and integrative health practitioners.
We are industry stakeholders who have come together from around the globe with a common mission: to inspire and support practitioners like you in your pursuit of knowledge and growth, so you can keep giving more to the patients and communities you support.
Come learn from some of the brightest minds of our field in our engaging digital environment.
To support your continuous self-development, we wanted to make it easier for you to keep learning from the teachers you love, even when you don’t need the CEUs. A lot of time goes into making the quiz and certificate applications for a course—if you don’t need it, why pay for it?
If you see a course or series you’re interested in, but aren’t sure if you need it towards your CEUs, just purchase the ‘Course Only’ or 'Series Only' option, and start learning right away! If you decide you need the CEUs at a later time, you can purchase the CEU add-on then.
Please note, CEU add-ons can only be applied if you have the course or series in your account, to begin with. If you buy a CEU add-on on its own, you will need to go back and buy the course or series respectively.
You have selected CEUs ONLY option. The CEU add-ons can only be applied to courses you already have in your Net of Knowledge account.
If you have purchased a CEUs ONLY option first by accident, you can come back here and purchase the COURSE ONLY option, and they will link back up automatically.
This 3-hour webinar was recorded during a hands-on one-day workshop in May 2023 and completes the commemorative 40th anniversary of the passing of Tom Bowen. It includes:
1. A review of the Methods shown in the first course in the light of increased awareness of the structure and function of the joints before, during and after the Methods are applied. This is designed to increase the results obtained. Tom Bowen's development of his unique methods is blended with an experiment illustrating the relationship between somatic dysfunction and posture using a Method for correction of the range of movement of the fibula joint. This allows for a deeper understanding of the intimate relationship and interdependence between structure and function in our clients.
2. Methods used for dysfunction and strains of the lower, middle and upper back, neck, TMJ, respiratory diaphragm, major leg muscles, shoulders, elbows, wrists ankles and feet.
3. Examples using volunteers from among the participants show how the general, standing posture of the client may be improved as corrections are made to joint dysfunction.
The first section of the course covers the Bowen Method for the proximal fibula joint. This shows that improved function of one part of the soma has on general body posture. Tools for assessing postural strain in the client’s soma are shown.
15 min - 30 minThis section reviews the Patella Tracking Method and describes the Bowen Method used for posterior compartment issues of the knee joint.
30 min - 45 minThe lower back Bowen Methods are reviewed and the the effect of applying flicking of tissue over a group of four well known acupoints to isolate that part of the soma is investigated. The impact on posture is described.
45 min - 1 hrsThis section of the course investigates the multifunctional role that the thoracic spine has on pain and ROM issues within that section of the body. The relationship with the lower back and the neck is shown and described.
1 hrs - 1.25 hrsThis section of the course covers the Bowen Methods used for neck dysfunction. The Methods include individual attention to the anterior and posterior supporting muscles of the neck.
1.25 hrs - 1.5 hrsThis section of the course covers the Bowen Methods used to assist respiratory diaphragm function, shoulder muscle function including posterior and anterior shoulder muscles.
1.5 hrs - 1.75 hrsThis section of the course covers the Bowen Methods for elbows forearms, wrists, and thumbs. The acupuncture points used in these methods are among those that many practitioners are used to using with needles.
1.75 hrs - 2 hrsThe Bowen Methods used to assist function of the Quads, Hamstrings, Sartorius, Iliopsoas, Piriformis and the Quadratus femoris muscles are discussed in the context of their contribution to lower and upper back presentations in clients are shown.
2 hrs - 2.25 hrsThis section of the course covers Bowen Methods to assist the soft tissues involved in function of the ankle and foot including bunions, heel and toe pads. A direct link between these joints and postural pain patterns is shown.
2.25 hrs - 2.5 hrsThe Bowen Methods to assist ROM restrictions of the Costo-and Sterno vertebral joints are shown. This includes a wrap up of the Methods covered in the course and information on how they fit into clinical practice including postural considerations.

About Kevin Ryan
Dr Kevin Ryan is AHPRA registered in Australia, to practice both Acupuncture and Osteopathy. He practices in Melbourne, Victoria. He was born at an early age in 1949. He has a continuing full time clinic practice of over 47 years. He has particular interests in the treatment of muscular-skeletal dysfunction, pain and neurological conditions, compromised fertility, mood disorders, inflammatory arthritis and endocrine disorders. He maintains a practice with a significant number of babies and children and disability patients. He was fortunate to study with the now world famous Geelong Osteopath Thomas Ambrose Bowen during the final 3 years of his life. Kevin returned the favor in some measure, by keeping Tom's practice operating for three months while it was on the market. Tom held a free monthly clinic for disability clients for much of his 35 years in practice. This clinic was kept running for some 12 years after tom's death. Over the last 18 years, and following his exposure to the Master Tung system of acupuncture, Kevin has developed his own unique approach to the use of gentle finger tip contact of acupuncture point pairs to treat muscular skeletal presentations. This is now known as Dao Ma (Coupled Point) Posture Method. These Methods have been developed sufficiently to present the approach in both face to face workshop and online formats. The Dao Ma and Bowen Methods may be used with needling and most Tui na and Shiatsu techniques. Kevin has a long and continuing role in Program Advisory Committees in University courses in both TCM and in Osteopathy. He is former and founding member of the Complementary Medicines Evaluation Committee of the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration. Kevin is a well respected and accomplished practitioner of Natural Medicine specializing in Constitutional Homeopathy. He is an active presenter at Acupuncture Association Conferences.
Some accreditation bodies have course approval expirations. If the approval expires, you will see a notice next to the name with a date of expiration: "[Until YYYY/MM/DD]". Please factor this date into your own renewal deadline. If an approval expires, you will be able to request that it is renewed and we will submit it for you within 2 business days. Renewals normally come back to us after 30 days. If your accreditation body is not listed under the "Approved" section, you may find it under the "Pending" section. That means that it is either currently pending approval, or that it is available for you to request: "[Upon Request]". New course approvals usually come back to us after 45 days. We use an automated system within our platform that allows you to make these requests in an easy and convenient way. Just visit the course page in your Net of Knowledge account and click the "Request Approval" button at the top. Each "Course and CEUs/CPDs" purchase grants you 1 request per accreditation body. If you request a course approval and do not complete it before its new expiration date, you will need to purchase another "CEU/CPD Add-On" to make another request. If the course is ineligible for approval with an accreditation body due to their subject-matter policies, it will be listed as "[Ineligible]", and no requests will be possible for the course.
