This formula was first published in “Correcting the Errors in the Field of Medicine” by the Qing dynasty physician Wang Qingren. Bu Yang Huan Wu Tang is used to tonify the qi, stimulate the blood, and unblock the meridians, and it is used to treat a deficiency in the qi and yang when blood stasis is blocking the channels, stagnation of qi and blood caused by wind-phlegm, and Wei syndrome caused by qi deficiency and blood stasis.

In this formula, Astragalus tonifies qi, wei qi, and blood, fortifies the spleen, and raises the yang qi of the spleen and stomach, and Peony cools and stimulates the blood, purges heat, and disperses blood stasis.
